Transformations of Reference Frames and Model Development for Multi-Phase Machines

This paper presents a general set of transformations stationary and rotating reference frames for all types symmetrical multi-phase machines, as well generic approach developing detailed electrical models such machines. The model an example 50 kW interior permanent-magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) is developed. development procedures are illustrated in context this machine. also used to reduce the computational complexity obtaining parameters via finite element (FEM) analysis. results presented implications validity associated challenges discussed.
